School Bus
Kids first — the rules that come with the stop arm.
Drivers who will operate a school bus. The S endorsement rides on a Class A or B CDL and, in most states including South Carolina, also requires a driving (skills) test.
School bus driving is its own discipline: danger zones, loading and unloading, railroad crossings, evacuation drills, and the walk-through that makes sure no child is ever left behind. This bank is built from the school-bus section of the CDL manual — the part examiners drill hardest because the stakes are highest.
What the bank covers
- Danger zones and mirror coverage
- Loading, unloading, and crossing procedures
- Stop arm and warning lights
- Railroad crossing routine and stall response
- Emergency exits and evacuation
- Pre-trip checks and post-trip walk-through
The real test
roughly 20 multiple-choice questions — confirm the current count in your state's CDL manual
The School Bus endorsement needs the written test plus a driving (skills) test, and many states add background checks.
- Every written CDL test in South Carolina is passed with a score of 80% or higher.
- Fail any part and you wait until the next day before you can retest.
- You get three attempts on one application fee — after that, new fees apply.
- Endorsement tests can be taken the same day as General Knowledge, or later.
Test-taking tips
- 01Read the whole question before you look at the answers. Most points are lost on questions that were only half-read.
- 02Knock out the two obviously wrong answers first, then choose between what's left.
- 03Watch for absolutes — "always" and "never" are usually the wrong choice; "should" and "may" are usually safer.
- 04Numbers are what the test loves: pressures, distances, time limits, and lengths. Write them down while you study and say them out loud on test day.
- 05Don't leave anything blank. An unanswered question is scored wrong, and a good guess beats no guess.
- 06Fail a part and you wait until the next day to retest — so walk in rested, fed, and early instead of cramming in the parking lot.
What you get
- —Each test draws 50 questions from a 100+ question bank written from the same material your state handbook covers.
- —The correct answer and the reason behind it, shown after you finish.
- —Unlimited retakes — every attempt pulls a fresh mix of 50 questions from the 100+ question bank, with answer choices reordered too.
- —A result broken down by topic, so you can see which section is costing you marks.
- —A suggested 25-minute limit, so you can practise under the pace of the real test.
